When David Montoya's mother passed away in 1995, he felt he needed to do something to honor her memory. David Montoya Construction, Inc. began the Priscilla A. Montoya Memorial Scholarship in 1996. To date, the company has awarded $100,000.00 to high school seniors in Albuquerque, as well as to other New Mexico communities.

The Albuquerque scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who live in the North Valley. The North Valley is the same area where the Montoya Family was born and raised. More recently, the company began awarding scholarships to high school seniors in other communities within the State of New Mexico. These awards are given to thank the community for their support while David Montoya Construction, Inc. works within their community on various construction projects.
